Diabetes increases your chances of having foot problems. Diabetes can cause nerve damage, such as diabetic neuropathy. As a result, you may be less able to detect an injury or pressure on the skin of your foot. A foot injury may not be noticed until severe damage or infection has occurred.
Ingrown Nails
An ingrown toenail can happen for a variety of reasons. Toenail sides or corners typically curve down and press against the skin. When a toenail pierces the skin, it continues to grow into the skin and can result in redness, swelling, pain, and, in some cases, infection.
Rehabilitation Treatments
Skin conditions, postural issues, flat feet, heel pain, diabetic foot, foot pain, injury, and more are all treated at High Point Foot Center! Our High Point foot doctor offers ongoing rehabilitation and recovery assistance. You'll be up and running again in no time.
Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the thick tissue under the foot. The plantar fascia is the name given to this tissue. It connects the heel bone to the toes and forms the foot arch. Plantar fasciitis is caused by overstretching or overuse of the bottom of the foot. This can be excruciatingly painful and make walking more difficult.
If you have any of the following, you are more likely to develop plantar fasciitis:
Bunions
A bunion is an enlargement on the side of the foot near the big toe's base (hallux). A bursa (fluid-filled sac) under the skin forms the enlargement. The term bunion also refers to a structural (bony) deformity known as hallux abducto valgus (HAV). Bunions can be painful and are made worse by physical activity and wearing tight shoes.
Hammertoes
A hammer toe is also known as a claw toe or a mallet toe. It is characterized by a toe deformity caused by an imbalance in the pull of the tendons. Either the tendon at the top of the toe or the tendon at the bottom of the toe pulls harder. The toe curls up as a result of this.
Corns and Calluses
Calluses and corns are areas of thick, hard skin. They are usually caused by rubbing or irritation over a bony prominence. If the hard, thick skin is on your toe, it is called a "corn", and if it is anywhere else on your foot, it is called a callous.
Plantar Warts (Plantar Verucca)
A virus causes plantar warts. Plantar refers to the bottom of the foot, but warts can appear anywhere on the foot and toes. Depending on where they are located, plantar warts can be painful. Because layers of hard skin can form on top of the wart, they can be mistaken for calluses.
Toenail Fungus (Onychomycosis)
Toenail fungal infections can cause the nails to become discolored, thickened, crumbly, or loose. There are various causes and treatments available.
Athlete's Foot (Tinea Pedis)
Athlete's foot is a common skin condition that affects people, not just athletes, of all ages. A fungus is to blame. It can cause redness, itchiness, tiny fluid-filled bumps, and peeling skin. It is usually found between the toes or on the bottom of the feet.
Orthotics
Orthotics can assist in the correction of postural issues and the subsequent problems in the rest of the body. They are medical shoe inserts made specifically for your foot and problem. Orthotics can correct incorrect foot alignment, abnormal walking patterns, and common conditions such as flat feet. They can help you get rid of and prevent pain in your feet, legs, knees, hips, and back.
High Point Foot Center's expert team can give you professional advice on how to keep your feet healthy. Certain exercises, hygiene treatments, devices, and proper footwear can help prevent future foot problems. Trust your local foot doctor in High Point to provide you with sound foot care advice.

"Dr. Henry did a great job removing my ingrown toenail. I had seen two podiatrists before coming to High Point Foot Center and his care was by far the best I received. It’s been a month since the procedure and you can’t even tell I ever had the surgery at all! Highly recommend."
